Our first research program

The Caribbean Legal AI Reliability and Jurisdictional Reasoning Study asks whether AI systems apply the right jurisdiction’s law, cite sources that support their answers, and recognize when essential facts are missing.

Why this matters

A confident answer can overlook the differences between legal systems. Independent evidence can help lawyers, educators, students, and the public better understand the limits of AI-generated legal information.

Research with local expertise

The proposed study focuses on Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago. Qualified legal reviewers and a methodology co-lead would guide source verification, research design, and assessment.

Help the research move forward

Support the work needed to verify legal sources, develop expert-reviewed questions, assess model answers, and communicate findings clearly. Funding does not guarantee a particular research outcome.
